GOAL: Clear NULOs/ULOs from 1992-1997, and provide tacking and processing to avert future unmatched disbursement problems.
SOLUTION: Supplied seven fully trained employees in Arlington, Virginia, and two in Denver, Colorado.
RESULTS: Cleared $40+M in NULOS/ULOs, prevented any errors from 1998 onward, and provided timely financial performance data and reports.

Freeing Marines to be war fighters

GOAL: Benchmark and business-process-reengineer motor pool functions to use fewer resources.
SOLUTION: Supplied experienced consultants to study the existing processes and develop an improved prototype model in Cherry Point, North Carolina.
RESULTS: The ability to deliver motor pool functions with fewer resources, and implement changes throughout the Marine Corps.

Enabling 39 independent information systems to meet a single set of standards

Defense Finance and Accounting Service

GOAL: Share information with hundreds of IT professionals regarding the reengineering of automated functions in the largest accounting system in the world in order to communicate consistent standards.
SOLUTION: Design and host a Web site as the data repository for all system reports, including as-is studies, system requirements, and system documentation.
RESULTS: System architects can avert problems in the architecture and design states before development begins.

Determining how to best migrate an employee information system

HQ U.S. Army Civilian Personnel Command

GOAL: Determine through a feasibility study the best way to migrate all records on current and retired Army civilian employees to a new Oracle-based client server.
SOLUTION: Studied dozens of options, focused on three, and recommended the best value alternative in time to avoid Y2K problems.
RESULTS: Client was able to accomplish vendor selection within 45 days after start of the study.

Maintaining secure communications

Information Warfare Exploitation System Engineering Division,
U.S. Department of the Navy

GOAL: Track and provide configuration management for all information systems regarding cryptologic software and hardware on all surface ships.
SOLUTION: Supplied experienced personnel to conceive, test, and use a new database and GUI database software to track all changes and ensure that all changes are approved by six people in a paperless (electronic) environment.
RESULTS: Client now knows what cryptologic hardware and software are on every ship and can easily maintain accurate and accessible documentation.

Finding out why employees leave

Veterans Health Administration

GOAL: Replace baby-boomer employees who are leaving the agency.
SOLUTION: Surveyed more than 8,000 former VHA employees to find out why employees leave the agency.
RESULTS: Found that some people left the agency simply because no one asked them to stay. VHA has changed its employee communications and has been able to re-hire a number of experienced, former employees.
